You live like this, sheltered, in a delicate world, and you believe you are living. Then you read a book… or you take a trip… and you discover that you are not living, that you are hibernating. The symptoms of hibernating are easily detectable: first, restlessness. The second symptom (when hibernating becomes dangerous and might degenerate into death): absence of pleasure. That is all. It appears like an innocuous illness. Monotony, boredom, death. Millions live like this (or die like this) without knowing it. They work in offices. They drive a car. They picnic with their families. They raise children. And then some shock treatment takes place, a person, a book, a song, and it awakens them and saves them from death. Some never awaken.

Ramblings of the Night:Technological Rat Race
On this insomnia-driven night, as I was stumbling/stalking on FB, I came across my cousin’s Facebook. Now, this cousin was from a third-world-ass-country. Why in the hell was/is Facebook one of his priorities? My parents gave him a camera, not just any camera…a Nikon DSLR, and he had a picture of one of his meals. It was pickled turnips and rice, lots and lots of rice. It’s such a juxtaposition to see the luxuries of the first world possessed in a world where people still shit in holes. It’s infuriating because we are causing this lifestyle. Our super powered America is setting the successful lifestyle trend of living by the standards of new technology. You can only be a part of the “in” or the elite if you have the qualifying technology. It’s the culture of today that’s becoming so universal that the necessities of food don’t equate the greater value of having the latest iPhone.
The lines between priorities blur and everyone is just sucked in, overwhelmed with lust and greed. This constant urge to be relevant is such an unnecessary emotion… It’s not the physical things that’s upsetting, it’s more like the mental process of the end result-the causation of one’s rationale. Such a strange concept growing in today’s society huh!
